Muthayya Muraleedharan was born on 17 April 1972 in Nattarampota, Kandy, Sri Lanka and his hometown is also in Colombo, Sri Lanka. Muralee received his early education from St Anthony’s collage, Kandy.

Muralee’s father’s name is Sinnasami Muthayya and their mother’s name is Laxmi. Muthayya Muraleedharan on 21 March 2005. He was married earlier to Madhu Malar, his son’s name is Naren and his daughter’s name is Krisha.
